From series reports

BELLEVILLE, Kan. (Aug. 31) — John Anderson of Omaha, Neb., overtook polesitter Delbert Smith on the seventh lap, then fought off a late challenge from Kelly Boen for a $2,500 victory on the O'Reilly National Championship Racing Association.

"Whew, was that tough!" Anderson said after holding off Boen, the Henderson, Colo., driver who won a World of Outlaws Late Model Series event at Belleville on July 20. Smith, of Wichita, Kan., was third followed by Nebraska drivers Jason Friesen of Sutton and Kyle Berck of Marquette. Anderson notched his second NCRA victory of the season and seventh of his career.

Notes: Anderson's Jay Dickens-powered MasterSbilt is sponsored by Shop Quik Convenience Stores, Mc3 Properties and Sunoco. ... He dedicated the victory to his church youth group, which came to watch Anderson race. ... Dave Conkwright started outside the front row but dropped back to fourth on the first lap and ended up 21st after getting caught up in a tangle with Kelly Dunn and Scott Daly. ... A red flag appeared on the seventh lap when the car of Jim Beaman of Brighton, Colo., climbed over the guardrail in turns one and two. He was uninjured but done for the night. ... Ted Martin rolled to a stop on the 12th lap to draw the final caution.
