Brad Looney won his second straight Larry Phillips Memorial.
What won the race: Fourth-starting Brad Looney of Republic, Mo., ended a nearly year-long drought on the MARS DIRTcar Series on Saturday with his second straight victory in Springfield Raceway's Larry Phillips Memorial. Looney, who has made limited starts in 2014, pocketed $3,475 in taking the checkers ahead of Jeremy Payne for his first series victory since Sept. 14, 2013's L.P. Memorial at Springfield.
Key notes: Looney took the lead from Payne on the 34th lap of the 75-lap feature. ... Polesitter Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., broke a shock on the parade lap. ... Terry Phillips, who started 18th, had a late flat tire after contact with Payne in a battle for second. ... Will Vaught, who led the first 10 laps, was running second when motor woes forced him out on lap 32. .... Phillips also had a flat leading the second heat but rebounded to win a consolation race. ... The 14th annual Larry Phillips Memorial paid tribute to the five-time NASCAR Weekly Racing Series champion as the tour makes its final appearance of 2014 at Springfield.
On the move: Justin Wells of Aurora, Mo., started 12th and finished third.
