Justin Weaver (2J) takes the checkers at Hagerstown.
What won the race: Taking the lead from Donnie Farlling past halfway, series points leader Justin Weaver of Williamsport, Md., scored his third consecutive Mason-Dixon Shootout Series victory Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway. The sixth-starting Weaver earned $1,000 and also wrapped up Hagerstown's Limited Late Model title.
Quotable: “This thing was just flawless tonight," winner Justin Weaver said. "I mean, I kind of searched around there in the middle of the race. I knew we had a good car, but I wasn’t going to be able to pass those guys unless I moved somewhere else. ... I searched around the bottom and found a good lane and stuck with it and it worked out.”
Key notes: Michael Walls led early before Donnie Farlling took command; Farlling settled for second after Justin Weaver went by past halfway. ... Weaver won his series-high fourth Mason-Dixon victory of the season. ... Weaver tops the second-year tour's all-time list with seven career victories. ... Weaver's 26 career Limited Late Model victories at Hagerstown are seventh on the track's all-time list.
On the move: Barry Miller of Clear Spring, Pa., started 15th and finished third.
Winner's sponsors: Weaver's Rocket Chassis is powered by an A&C Racing Engine and sponsored by Wise Construction, Tri-State Fence & Lawn and Chaz's Used Auto Parts.
Points chase: Entering the weekend, Justin Weaver (593) of Williamsport, Md., led Devin Hart (515), Brad McGinnis (511), Shaun Jones (492) and Jeremy Ohl (400).
