Ricky Weeks is joined in Friendship victory lane by his granddaughter Riley.
What won the race: Polesitter Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C., completed a clean sweep at Friendship Motor Speedway with a flag-to-flag triumph in Saturday’s Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Model main event. Weeks, who set the fast time and won the dash, outran 12-year-old Bryson Harper for a $1,200 victory.
Quotable: “The track was just awesome. You could run anywhere on it and there’s not many tracks in this part of the country you can do that,” winner Ricky Weeks said. “It was one of the best racetracks I’ve been to all year except for maybe Antioch. My car was flawless. I can’t thank my crowd enough for having such a great race car.”
Key notes: Bryson Harper’s runner-up finish matched his best result on the Blue Ridge tour. Harper finished second at 311 Motor Speedway in Pine Hall, N.C., on June 9. Harper also has three third-place finishes. … Friendship hosted the Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models for the only time this season. … The tour’s race at Antioch (N.C.) Speedway Friday was rained out.
Winner's sponsors: Weeks drives a Longhorn Chassis sponsored by Parton Lumber, AFCO, American Race Tires, Renegade Fuels and Phyllis Ikey.
Points chase: Entering the weekend, David Minton (393) led Brian Carswell (383), Ricky Weeks (303), Bryson Harper (225) and Josh Harris (191).
