Boom Briggs (99) chases Chub Frank (1*) in the third heat. Briggs led all 18 laps of the main event for a $3,000 rain-shortened victory.
What won the race: Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa. led all 18 laps that were completed of a scheduled 30 circuits to pick up a victory in Friday night's rain-shortened Zimmer's United Late Model Series feature at Thunder Mountain Speedway.
Key notes: The race was slowed by three caution flags, with the final one triggered by the rain that forced officials to call the event officials with 12 laps remaining. ... The victory was the ninth of Briggs's career in ULMS competition. The two-time ULMS champion last won on the tour on Sept. 22, 2013, at McKean County Raceway. ... Briggs was able to enter the event because his planned trip to the Midwest for a Lucas Oil Series doubleheader in Illinois was postponed earlier in the week by wet weather. ... Briggs's cousin and teammate Chub Frank — also a late addition to the field after his World of Outlaws trip to Kansas and Oklahome was postponed — finished third. ... Thirteen cars were on the lead lap at the finish. ... The tour moves to Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday for the Red Miley Rumble.
Winner's sponsors: Briggs drives a Longhorn Chassis with a Clements Racing Engine and sponsorship from Briggs Transport, Corry Rubber Corporation, Asel Enterprises, Buccola's, Meridien Hardwoods of PA, C.J.'s Auto Transport, Tony Stec Lumber, Chub Frank Racing, Allstar Performance and Slavic Shirt and Decals.
