Terry Phillips led all 30 laps for a McCool Junction, Neb., victory.
What won the race: Ending a two-year drought on the MLRA circuit, winningest series driver Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., led all 30 laps of the King of the Hill preliminary feature at Junction Motor Speedway. Phillips crossed the finish line 0.971 seconds ahead of runner-up Jesse Stovall.
Quotable: "We've been on a grind here, they've done a good job getting these cars ready," Phillips said, thanking his crew after his fourth race in five days. "I want to thank all them, the (track-owning) Friesens, for having us up here. It's a beautiful facility, the track was spot on tonight, hopefully we can do the same thing tomorrow night."
Key notes: The victory was Phillips' 110th career MLRA victory, and his 90th career MARS win. ... The race was slowed by two caution flags on laps 16 and 18. ... Kyle Berck was running second the first half of the race but faded after a lap-16 caution, ending up sixth. ... Brad Looney of Republic, Mo., fielded the Al Humphrey-owned No. 6, finishing 12th. ... A busy week of MLRA action concludes with Saturday's $5,000-to-win event at Junction.
Winner's sponsors: Phillips Black Diamond Chassis is powered by an Andy Durham Race Engine and is sponsored by Andy's Frozen Custard, Mesilla Valley Transportation, Don Babb Motorsports, New Vision Graphics, Integra Shocks and Keyser Manufacturing.
Points chase: Stovall currently leads the MLRA points, while Tony Jackson Jr. is the MARS points leader.
