Brian Carswell heads to victory at Antioch Speedway.
What won the race: Leading flag-to-flag, Brian Carswell of Valdese, N.C., picked up a win at his home track, becoming the season’s first repeat winner on the Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Model tour. Carswell, who also set the fast time during qualifying, finished ahead of Jonathan Jennings and Rob Favre.
Quotable: “The race track was good. It stayed hooked up all night,” said Carswell. “The car was pretty good. We’ve just got a good car. We’re working on it, getting it faster and faster each week.”
Key notes: Carswell now has two wins and two runner-up finishes in five Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Model Series events. His previous victory came April 14 at Sumter (S.C.) Speedway. … Jennings started at the tail of the field after problems during qualifying and was involved in a three-car incident at the start of the feature before rallying to place second. ... The tour has six more events scheduled at Antioch. The next is May 25. … The series takes a week off before heading to Ray Cook’s Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown, N.C. on May 11.
