Spring 50 qualifying bonus posted
Saturday’s fast qualifier for the Schaeffer's Spring Nationals Spring 50 at Florence Speedway in Union, Ky., will receive a $1,049 bonus as a memorial to late racer Willie Green, who died in February.
The “Going for the Green” award goes to the fast-timer of the $5,000-to-win event on the Ray Cook-promoted series that opens Florence’s season. Family and friends of Green collected the bonus money with help from Alsip Masonry, G&G Express, Louden Trucking and Slicker Graphics. The “49” represents Green’s former car number.
The 42nd annual Spring 50 is sponsored by KOI Auto Parts and Federated Auto Parts. Pits open at 4 p.m. with grandstands opening at 5 and hot laps at 5:30; racing begins at 7. General admission is $23. For more information, visit florencespeedway.com.
