Fitzgerald picks up $3,000 NLMS victory

WAYCROSS, Ga. (April 27) — Jason Fitzgerald of Jacksonville, Fla., raced to victory in his GRT Race Car on Saturday at Waycross Motor Speedway, earning $3,000 on the Hedman Hedders National Late Model Series. | Slideshow
Fitzgerald took the checkers ahead of Scott Johnson of Brunswick, Ga., while Cale Simons of Albany, Ga., was third. Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., ran into mechanical problems while running third and ended up 13th in the 18-car field. Seventh-finishing Joe Kump lost a few spots late with a flat tire.
