ALMA, Ohio (Nov. 5) — Josh McGuire was treated to a $5,000 payday Saturday at newly renamed Atomic Speedway for his victory in the season-ending Trick or Treat 50.

McGuire beat fellow Grayson driver Jackie Boggs to the checkered flag at the former K-C Raceway's season-ender while Scott James of Lawrenceburg, Ind., finished in the third spot. R.J. Conley of Wheelersburg, Ohio, was fourth and his older brother Rod, the event's fast qualifier, rounded out the top five.

Early Ben Adkins of West Portsmouth, Ohio, spun after tangling with Boggs midway through the race, falling from contention. The race, run under the track's weekly AMRA sanctioning, was postponed from the previous Saturday after a rainout.

Adkins led the first two laps with Rod Conley in pursuit, but the first of two cautions appeared on the third lap when K.C. Burdette had mechanical problems.

Adkins led Rod Conley, McGuire and Boggs back to green, and McGuire briefly fell to fourth when Boggs jumped the restart (he faced a two-position penalty at the next race stoppage).

Boggs and McGuire went to the front past Adkins and Rod Conley, with McGuire in control when the second and final yellow appeared on lap 22. Boggs was hit with his penalty and restarted fourth behind McGuire, James and Rod Conley, but Boggs quickly worked his way back up to second to give chase to McGuire.

He didn't have enough, though, as McGuire blitzed the rest of the field by over half a lap in wrapping up his victory.

Notes: McGuire's MasterSbilt Race Car is powered by a GCP Racing Engines and sponsored by U.S. Steel, DJs Kitchen Corner, SEBCO, Inc., Mar-Kel Enterprises, Youngblood Concrete, K&E Trucking, Budda and PRC ... Among drivers failing to make the feature: Rod Evans, Russ Frohnapfel, Bub Crum, Nick Latham and Lee Logan.
