Blair nips Scott on last lap at Expo

June 30, 2010, 11:33 pm
From series reports

CORTLAND, Ohio (June 30) — Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., made a thrilling turn-four pass on the final lap to overtake David Scott of Garland, Pa., on Wednesday at Expo Speedway. Blair earned $2,000 for his second Fastrak Northeast touring victory for Crate Late Models.

"I wasn't sure if I should turn down and settle for second, but I decided to go for it on the outside,” Blair said of his lap-30 strategy. "It was either going to work or I was going to end up in the field.”

Scott, who took the lead from polesitter Josh Holtgraver on the 12th lap, settled for second while 13th-starting Butch Lambert rallied to finish third. Bud Watson, who started 15th, and Troy Shields, who started 14th, rounded out the top five.

Bill Cunningham, who led the first three laps before Holtgraver took command, faded thereafter and ended up 19th while Holtgraver clipped an infield tire barrier and ended up eighth.

Cautions appeared for lap-11 spins by Larry Kugel and Bob Diver as well as for fourth-running Alan Dellinger’s lap-22 flat tire.

Notes: Blair’s Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Specialty Products, 4 Your Car Connection, Moody & Son Welding and Bossard's Sales & Service. ...
